Heavy Metal Vegan Cooking was started in early 2009 as Tim Hogarth's answer to his own question, "What is the most absurd kind of show I could possibly make?" The answer: A cooking show. Mix in some loud guitars, a dash of comedy, and you've got Heavy Metal Vegan Cooking.
The show was originally posted on YouTube with no real expectations of viewership, however despite minimal promotion and publicity the show has been constantly picking up steam. With steadily increasing numbers of fans, subscribers, and reposts on various websites, as well as rave reviews, HMVC is becoming unstoppable.
Major publicity opportunities have included being featured on The Cooking Channel's The Veg Edge, Tim being interviewed about the show in a feature article on the Secret Society of Vegans Website, and Syracuse University's Orange Television Network signing HMVC for a 3 episode season in the spring of 2010. The Syracuse Post Standard also ran a full page spread about the show, which included a front page mention in January 2011.
